I found space to shoehorn yet another heroine into the drama-rich landscape, which is what I’ve been doing between my last post and this current one. I’m frustrated by multiple things. The story works in terms of drama, but I am frustrated. I drafted this story, which works until the main character and the romantic interest get to the resolution. It’s not so bad, actually, but it was hard not to simply go with the overdramatic silliness. I even almost tossed in the surprise pregnancy card, which leads to a shotgun wedding and a “twoo wuv” finale.
That’s an easy out, and it’s not particularly a good one. Hackneyed, actually. So, the main character (MC) and the love interest (LI) are going to get to know each other slowly again after having dealt with drama and learning, in the end, they have an united dream.
And chocolate. Oh baby. Romance and Chocolate.
Injecting too much reality into it, however . . . I’d regret it. After all, soap opera drama is like calorie-free chocolate–this stuff doesn’t happen in real life. I just have to suspend disbelief and amp up the drama with love triangles and tears and relationships that somehow survive all of this.
